Creating weekly project reports manually can be time-consuming and inconsistent, especially when managing multiple projects or teams. This workflow shows you how to automate the entire process using Notion, OpenAI, and Zapier—turning scattered updates into polished, stakeholder-ready reports. Once set up, it runs completely on autopilot every week.
KEY STEPS:
Set up two Notion databases: one for raw updates and one for generated reports.
Collect updates through forms, Slack messages, or direct Notion entries.
Create a Zapier trigger that runs automatically every Friday.
Pull all updates submitted within the past week into one dataset.
Use Formatter to compile the text into a structured summary.
Send the compiled updates to OpenAI to generate the weekly report.
Automatically create a new Notion page containing the AI-generated report.
(Optional) Send the report via email or Slack to stakeholders.

The beta research preview, announced in December 2025, builds on Slack’s existing Claude integration by letting teams tag @Claude to automatically initiate coding sessions based on Slack context like bug reports or feature requests. This shift highlights a broader trend in AI tooling: prioritizing workflow integration over isolated model capabilities.
Developers can now trigger full Claude Code sessions from Slack by mentioning @Claude, turning conversations directly into coding tasks.
The AI uses context from recent Slack threads (e.g., bug discussions) to pick the correct repository and generate code changes.
Completed work posts updates and pull request links back into the Slack thread for review, streamlining collaboration.
